Wellard Square, Wellard Village WA
Back in September 2017 the Village at Wellard Residents Association (later Wellard Village People Town Team) partnered with PEET, Wellard Square and City of Kwinana to host their first Park(ing) Day event in Wellard Village.
Hundreds of Wellard residents took to the streets of Wellard Square to join the fun filled Park(ing) Day event.
The event took over not only three parallel parking bays out the front of the fish'n'chip and noodle shops, but it closed the whole road! Parking bays were transformed into alfresco dining, mini golf activities, book swap stall with chalked out rug and pot plants and various stalls by local businesses.
A parklet was created outside the eateries which consisted of artificial turf, picnic tables and festoon lighting. A white picket fence was used to separate it from the road.
The dining setup was very popular with many voices to make it a regular feature over the warmer months.
There was something for everyone, from live entertainment, giant games, cow milking to DJ with pop-up vinyl record store, and street cricket organised by the Kwinana Cricket Club. Local businesses also joined in and offered various specials and attractions on the day.
One of the highlights was a pop up bar ''The Village Well', ran by the Residents Association.

Budget: Approx $8,000
Much of it was spent on furniture hire. Milk crates were borrowed from the local Woolworths with cushions purchased from Kmart to keep for future events. There was a lot of in kind contribution as well as the local Rotary Club managing the road closure with an existing traffic management plan.
