Town Team Movement - The Origin Story and our evolution to the Doing Co

Town Team Movement co-founders Dean Cracknell and Jimmy Murphy sit down with Kendell Terrell to share the story of how Town Team Movement began.

What started 10 years ago as a simple idea - that everyday people have the power to shape the places they love - has grown into something far bigger than anyone imagined. From a spontaneous conversation in a Perth backyard, to community street parties and a small group of local doers gathered around a kitchen table in North Perth, the movement has evolved into a network of thousands of changemakers creating stronger, more connected communities.

Today, more than 170 Town Teams have formed across Australia and beyond. Through Streets Alive, over $1 million each year flows directly into local communities. Thousands of community builders, local leaders, and system changers are contributing to something bigger than themselves.

As the movement has grown, so too has its purpose and reach.

That's why we're introducing a new name that reflects what this community has become. Town Team Movement is evolving into Doing Co.

Because at its heart, this movement has always been about doing. It's about local doers, community builders, and system shapers working together to create better places and stronger communities.

Town Teams aren't going anywhere - they remain a vital and valued part of the movement. The doing continues. The mission remains the same.

The only thing that's changing is the name.
