Inspired by something similar in Fremantle, Victoria Park locals gathered to choose the best lasagna in town in 4 categories: There are four categories.

1 - local restaurants and cafes 2 - home cook - traditional lasagne 3 - home cook - vegetarian lasagne 4 - the people's choice award

Spectators could pay the low price of $5 to eat. Each person then got one vote for the people's choice award. were showered with praise if they brought along a salad to go with the feast.

The rules for the Lasagne Bake Off were:

  1. Entrants must register through the Humanitix events.
  2. Lasagne must be a minimum of 20 x 30 cm.
  3. Lasagnes must arrive at the event at a minimum of 60°.
  4. Entrants will only be accepted between 11.30am and 12.15pm. Judged competition.
  5. We have two groups of judges. One group for the traditional home-cook category, and one group for the vegetarian and business categories.
  6. Judges will be using the E.A.T method for scoring a. Execution 20% b. Appearance 30% c. Taste 50%
  7. Judges will be tasting blind. Each entrant will cut out the best bit of their lasagne and put it in a provided container. Container will be numbered and only front desk staff will have access to the numbers.
  8. In the event of a tie, the second judging group will taste the tied lasagnes and determine a winner. People’s Choice award
  9. Each person with a valid ticket and all entrants will get one vote in the people’s choice award.
  10. The eaters can choose as many lasagnes as they wish to try, subject to supply. (hint large lasagnes can feed more people and possibly get more votes). a. Every effort will be made to create as many portions as possible in each lasagne. We will endeavour to create portions a minimum 3cm by 3cm.
  11. Contestants are to only approach people’s choice table to pick up lasagne to eat, not to spruik their own lasagne.
