Northam Zoo

Its started as a thought that an empty yard yard was infact an Invisable Zoo.

The empty space was an eyesore next to the Towns only traffic lights.

It reminded the team of those old zoos that were common in the 20th century. All concrete and not much else.

The idea was further developed and inspired by the viral stories about sun bears at a zoo in China, which caused a stir online because some people were convinced the bears looked suspiciously like humans in costumes.

So we thought, what better use of an old car yard than making it a real zoo, for humans pretending quite badly they were animals - were they animals, or just people pretending to be animals?

Lets ask the lion reading the paper or the leopard having a coffe.

The Northam event played on that same sense of fun — — and invited the community to join in, get creative and bring a little bit of zoo-style silliness to town.

Northam Zoo was a fun community event where people were encouraged to dress as animals but continue as people.

We had pandas playing chess, a race betwen snails and flamingos, Tai Chi giraffes and boot scooting rabbits and a swan that that kept getting chased by sharks.

We even managed to get some human beans into cages.
