Monger Street Safety Initiative

To enhance traffic safety and street vibrancy by improving the public space in the town center, there will be an installation of street furniture and colorful planter boxes with community design and install. This pilot project will test and evaluate traffic behavior to determine its effectiveness, with the goal of expanding to larger-scale safety measures based on observed outcomes and community feedback. 2. Change attitudes and behaviours This initiative aligns with broader goals of improving public spaces and promoting local businesses, while also addressing key safety concerns, particularly with the high volume of large trucks and vehicles on Monger Street.

3. Enhance street environment By transforming the vacant space next to the local café into a visually engaging area with street furniture and greenery, the project aims to create a pedestrian-friendly environment that benefits the entire community.

4. Trail a Collaborative Model The Monger Street Safety Initiative is more than just an infrastructure project; it represents a collaborative effort to improve public spaces, enhance safety, and foster a thriving community. By involving local governments, community groups, residents, and businesses in the planning, funding, and evaluation stages, the initiative ensures that the needs and desires of the community are at the heart of the project.
