A Place Management Framework developed for Burwood Council in NSW, providing practical guidance on placemaking principles and approaches tailored to Burwood's specific context, shaped with input from Council staff, businesses, and residents.
In 2024, was engaged by Burwood Council in NSW to prepare A Place Management Framework. It is a ‘compass’ and provides guidance on Burwood’s approach to creating even better places. It outlines:
- What place management and placemaking are
- 5 key principles to guide the approach, inform priorities and decision-making and assist with place improvement in the Burwood context
- Ideas to build confidence and inspire action
Designed to be practical, cost-effective, and tailored to its context, place, and suburb, Burwood’s placemaking approach inherently responds to and builds upon the strengths and opportunities present in each of Burwood’s places, rather than applying standardised, one-size-fits-all solutions. Council staff, business and residents helped to prioritise and refine the principles to ensure the Framework responds to, and builds on, the strengths and opportunities of the area.
