ArtDrive: Igniting Road Safety through Community Creativity

Community events held in Cunderdin and Meckering to gather road safety insights and develop a street calming action plan for both towns. The events will actively engage local residents by inviting them to install and decorate seating and planter boxes that aim to create safer and more walkable streets. On its completion, the street calming action plans will be shared with the Local Government and community. This project focuses on several key locations identified by collaborative partners in Cunderdin and Meckering:

  • Cunderdin – Forrest Street
  • Cunderdin – Main Street
  • Cunderdin – Cubbine Street
  • Cunderdin – Baxter Street
  • Meckering – Johnston street
  • Meckering – Gabbedy Place

These locations have been identified as problem areas by our collaborative partners, and we anticipate confirming and expanding upon these areas through community feedback sessions. This input will be crucial in developing an action plan for future road safety projects.

ArtDrive: Igniting Road Safety through Community Creativity brought together residents in Cunderdin and Meckering to explore creative, community-led approaches to improving road safety and walkability. Through hands-on community events, locals were invited to share insights on problem areas and help install and decorate seating and planter boxes designed to calm traffic and create safer, more people-friendly streets. Working collaboratively with community members and local partners, the project used community feedback to shape practical street calming action plans that will guide future road safety improvements and support stronger, more connected town centres.
